Janus RC 25 - double trouble (wind and rain)

Richard Cary races Sarah Storey (and does not win)

My diary comments that the last 5 events I've been in have been 'wet and windy', and so the afternoon of Saturday 16th June was no exception. Except that it was probably marginally worse than previous grotty days.

The Janus RC 25 on the Jodrell Circuit saw almost half the field decide to stay at home. I was happy enough with 1:4:24, squelching home in 35th place. The winner was the impressive Simon Bridge of Manchester Wheelers with 53:02. However, in second place putting time into plenty of very high quality local riders was Paralympian, Sarah Storey with a remarkable 56:37. With such sparkling form, I'm sure everyone will be wishing that similar finesse, and perhaps just a shade more, will emerge for the Games this summer.

Richard Cary

Sarah and Barney Storey are the guests at the 80th Annual Dinner on Saturday November 17th see here for more.
